COLLEGE

When coaching college students they are more aware that if their executive functioning skills were stronger, they would not be experiencing stress and frustration.  At this age the desire to be more independent and increase their skill set is there. Some students simply need an accountability partner. College appointments are more straightforward and discussion based. The process of identifying problems, adopting strategies and moving through weekly goals is generally quicker than with younger children. College clients usually opt to have one longer appointment and then a shorter check-in appointment, mid-week. The quick check-in is good for trouble-shooting, tweaking or just being held accountable. If you have a student that is college-bound, making a plan for work/ study management is a great way, prior to college send off, is a great step to being proactive. As many college students have said, "its easier to put the extra work in at the start than try to catch up in the end. "
